The wedding day emergency kit: pack it a week ahead and give it to the maid of honor, not the bride
There are two key things about the emergency kit, and neither is "what's inside":Who keeps it, andwhen to pack it.
Who keeps it: maid of honor or coordinator, not the bride
On the wedding day, the bride will be wearing her dress, holding her bouquet, and taking photos, so she won't have free hands or time to dig through a bag. If the emergency kit stays with the bride, it is practically useless.
Hand it to the maid of honor or day-of coordinator, and tell them clearly: "This bag stays close to me all day, and I'll ask you for it when I need it."
When to pack it: one week before the wedding
Don't wait until the morning of the wedding. That morning, you'll be getting your hair and makeup done, people will be calling, and things will go missing. Another benefit of packing a week early is that you'll realize what you don't have at home while you still have time to buy it.
What goes inside
Sewing
Sewing kit, safety pins, double-sided tape,clear nail polish(a quick dab can stop a run in your pantyhose).
Clothing
Portable garment steamer, stain remover pen, spare earring backs, spare buttons.
A garment steamer is the best bang for your buck in your entire bag, after all, it is hard for dresses not to get wrinkled during transit.It will definitelyget wrinkled, and the venue might not have an iron. Even if they do, it might not be suitable for wedding dress fabric.
Hair and makeup
Lipstick for touch-ups, blotting papers, bobby pins, hairspray, and a small mirror.
Body care
Band-Aids, painkillers, stomach medication, allergy meds, sunscreen,baby powder(To prevent thigh chafing: walking around all day under a long dress, this is honestly way more important than you think).
Refreshments
Straws(so drinking water won't smudge your lipstick), crumb-free protein bars, water.
This section is the easiest to overlook, but brides often end up eating nothing from morning makeup all the way until the ceremony ends. Hair and makeup takes 2–3 hours, so a lot of people already have low blood sugar by the time they say their vows (see item 51 on the list).
Other items
Power banks,a printed copy of the day's timeline, cash tip envelopes.
You need to print out the timeline instead of just keeping it on your phone. On the day, your phone will be taken to snap photos, run out of battery, or be handed off to the groomsman to hold onto, so having a paper copy is by far the safest bet.
Things not to pack
Don't put your marriage license in the emergency kit. That document should be kept separately in its own folder and looked after by your coordinator or best man (see item 126 on the checklist). If you mix them together, it's way too easy to crumple or lose it while digging around for lipstick.
